The Colli di Luni DOC straddles Liguria and Tuscany on the picturesque Italian Riviera. Altitudes of Ivan’s estate vineyards range from 50 to 450 meters above sea level. At the base of the hill, Tuscan loam and clay dominates. Towards the top, the sand of Liguria mixes with high pH, iron-rich soils (the vineyard is planted on top of an old mine!). For this wine, Ivan has either planted or grafted clones of Vermentino, Rolle and Favorita from across the Mediterranean basin. His 24 plots of Vermentino are further broken down into 50-70 different micro fermentations, all started with indigenous yeast by pied-du-cuvee. There is skin contact in reduction from 24-48 hours maximum by parcel. After fermentation, the lots rest on the lees for 6 months.  After racking, the final blend is decided. 3333 cases are produced annually of this hand-made beauty.
